Looking at this blog again
I really should start writing this blog again, keep a log of things.
Some highlights:
Emi and Kría and I have been living at B24 for over a year now, we are entering our second winter. Her tree seemed to be dying, but mid-summer it suddenly grew new, vigorous trunks. Maybe it'll survive!
Kría went to Barónborg and loved it, and recently moved to Njálsborg and is still acclimitising. She's amazing.
Emi has started teaching at the Listaháskóli. They love her, they want more. She's taken up dancing Bachata and says it's changed her life. She loves it, she wants more. She's proposed an art exhibition at Ásmundarsalur. We hope they love it and want more.
I took a part-time job at ISNIC, last April 1. I'm liking the work and the company so far, although it hasn't made my PageKite work situation any easier (and I doubt it will). Nor the Mailpile situation, but I've declared burnout on that one and am only working on it when I really feel the urge. Which does still happen now and then!
I'm happier than I left Iceland to be with Emi. I'm always happiest here. Getting married was surprisingly stressful, and Kría's birth and the first couple of years were hard too. Plus money concerns and Mailpile burnout... it's no coincidence this blog has been neglected.
But I'm so much better. A year home has really recharged my batteries. Kría is bigger, sleeps through the night, goes to school... I swim a few times a week and it feels great to be getting back in shape! I can now do 1km in under 20 minutes if I focus just a little bit. I look better and feel better. Still have a bit of a paunch, but this dad-bod is much improved.
As we gradually slide out of new-parent-mode and back into adult life, Emi and I have also been rediscovering some of the fun things that made us fall for each other in the first place. So that's amazing.
Life is good.
