Renunciation of citizenship

(E-mail to the U.S. embassy in Iceland, 3. september 2013)

Dear Embassy staff,

I would like to renounce my U.S. citizenship. Based on the research I have done, I believe I will need to show up in person and sign an oath and affirm that I am doing this of my own free will and not being coerced in any way.

I am available for such an appointment any time after the 12th of September.

I currently have dual Icelandic and U.S. citizenship and will not become stateless as a result of this act. My motives derive from my personal convictions and a deep and long-standing dissatisfaction with the behavior of the U.S. government, both domestically and globally.

Please advise if I should print out and fill out any relevant forms before the appointment.

Thank you for your consideration.
