UML and tasking in embedded systems

2000-09-25 19:34
Yesterday Eyvindur, Kalli and I spent the whole day learning about UML and it's applications in embedded systems. The talk was fascinating - I learned more yesterday than in a whole semester of UML-gobbledygook at the University. In short: UML is powerful enough to be used as a visual programming language, and people are in the process of implementing tools to make it realistic to use it as such. This is pretty cool - finally the technical documentation and the code can be literally one and the same.

Today's discussion about multitasking in embedded systems wasn't nearly as interesting, but it was pretty relevant to what I'm doing at work. Not much new, but it was nice to hear a third party verify that what we are doing makes sense.

It's still hot.
