I just uploaded my first app to the Android Market: The IPhonulator!
Basically it's a toy that makes an Android look superficially like an IPhone. It started as a joke, while I was waiting for some code to compile the other day. It's still a joke!
It's getting relatively positive comments and ratings, considering how primitive it is. I'm surprised! The people who comment on the Android Market are a pretty unruly bunch, to put it mildly.
However, writing it was fun and I learned these things:
In an attempt to evade the wrath of the Copyright Police, the app doesn't actually contain any graphics (aside from the icon?) originating on the IPhone. It just downloads what looks like an authentic screen-shot from Flickr. I should probably make both the downloaded wallpaper and the list of apps it launches configurable by the user, both to make the app more useful and less IPhone-specific.
Incidentally the session of silliness which inspired this app also inspired this version of Flash for Android. Me and my coworkers, we do manage to amuse ourselves...
Update: I've removed the app from the marketplace, for now. There were certain problems with it which I want to fix before making it available again.
