Bloggy tweaks and RSS feeds

2007-10-13 11:45

I've been slowly getting into the habit of using Google Reader to keep track of news and blogs and such things. I rather like it.

After a helpful comment on my Yahoo Pipes post, I decided to play with the reader's feed creation features.

Turns out they're easier to work with than Pipes, and more importantly, Reader doesn't mess up the Icelandic characters in my old-fashioned iso-8859-1 encoded RSS feeds, which I'm afraid Pipes doesn't handle properly. So I'm quietly switching to using Reader instead of Pipes to publish combined feeds. (If anyone actually subscribed to my combined Yahoo feeds the other day, don't worry, I'll make sure they keep working).

I've added links to my various RSS feeds to the bottom box in the sidebar on the right. Also powered by Google Reader, I've added a "news" box which lets me link to things I've found cool or interesting, but didn't really feel like writing a whole blog post about. Those links are included in my combined RSS feed as well.
