Diary: enhanced privacy features

2001-09-23 05:18
My diary has now been more-or-less updated to use a new system which gives allows me to give people usernames and passwords, so I can control which users can see different parts of the diary.

Adding the login system was relatively simple, but locking down the diary code so people couldn't trick it into displaying stuff it shouldn't was a bit harder. I think I've almost succeeded, but I'm going to play with it for a few more days before I start posting Secret Stuff. At the moment all I'm using it for is to hide parts of the page which are for my eyes only (the new entry and edit buttons, things like that).

If you want to read my Secret Stuff for some reason, send me mail and I'll consider it. :-)

There may be other reasons to apply for a username and password - soon I may modify the SMS script and/or the comment system to only allow logged-on users to post stuff.
